Today we bring to attention the SEGA CD/MEGA CD. Available in 1992 the SEGA CD was an add-on attachment to the Sega Genesis. The CD quality games a higher quality audio experience, some games such as Night Trap evolved around using FMV video. Many games were ported from their Sega Genesis version, some SEGA CD games showed great improvement while others were made with less effort and gave the SEGA CD/MEGA CD brand a bad name.
As many of you know, a soft-modded original Xbox is capable of running emulators for retro game consoles. The most popular of these are the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis emulators. The NeoGenesis and Xenesis emulators are capable of not only playing SEGA CD/MEGA CD ROMs but also to play the original SEGA CD/MEGA CD game disc. NeoGenesis is also capable of playing Neo-Geo CD game discs from the Xbox disc drive. See our full list of emulators for the original Xbox.
Recently I played Mickey Mania: The Timeless Adventures of Mickey Mouse and I now consider it one of the greatest looking 2D retro game. The animation and polish are phenomenal, it looks like you're playing the actual Mickey Mouse cartoon show.
Some of the best SEGA CD/MEGA CD games released:
- ETERNAL CHAMPIONS: CHALLENGED FROM THE DARK SIDE
- SHINING FORCE CD
- LUNAR: THE SILVER STAR
- SONIC CD
- DRAGON'S LAIR
